There should be a "Tools" link at the bottom of every page replacing or possibly in addition to the current search tool link provided.
Clicking on the proposed "Tools" link would bring up a ghost page like the current "search' link does, but if the Transporter is able to respond appropriately to a new request - it would also display additional page json that provided features that the transporter supports.
